The inspiration…. Lichens are a complex life form that is a symbiotic partnership of two separate organisms, a fungus and an alga. They are a keystone species in many ecosystems. They serve as a food source and habitat for many animals such as deer, birds, and rodents. They provide nesting materials for birds. They protect trees and rocks from extreme elements such as rain, wind, and snow.

This half circle shawl is done in a fade with yarns held double throughout, starting with an interesting cable I found this makes for a more solid and straight starting edge and it also gives a good base for the half circle, on the lower part of the shawl body textural surface stitches are introduced for an interesting effect in the run up too the bottom part of the curved edge. The optional finishes takes the shawl to a next level but they are totally optional.

A colour recipe guide is included but it is entirely up to everyone to involve his/her own take on the pattern/colours and make it completely their own.
